During the holiday season I enjoy curling up with a good Christmas book. Lisa Carter’s books never disappoint. I asked Lisa to introduce her new book A Safe Place for Christmas. Lisa, thank you for joining us.
Thank you, Debbie, for hosting me today. It is always a pleasure to be with you and your readers.
The heart of A Safe Place for Christmas is about embracing the gifts God gives us. These gifts can take the form of new opportunities or the people He puts into our lives to encourage us. In the midst of Luke’s struggle to save his family’s tree farm, Shayla and Baby Jeremiah prove to be an unexpected blessing. Sometimes the unexpected gifts are the best ones.
My favorite Christmas gift happened a few years ago when I had everyone in my family together one Christmas Eve, including my parents. This was especially poignant for me because they had divorced when I was a child, and thereafter, most occasions were split between them. But this particular Christmas both of them came to our family gathering, and we were able to celebrate Christmas together for the first time since I was nine year’s old. By this time, I myself was a mother, yet I remember how happy I was to have everyone I loved together in one room. That Christmas was such a gift. Some of you may not understand why that was so significant to me, but those of you who grew up with divorced parents probably understand my joy. My father died a few years later, but I will cherish the memory of that Christmas forever.
God gave us the greatest gift in His Son, Jesus Christ. He’s also given each of His children at least one gift to share with others. We get caught up in the trappings of Christmas, in the receiving of gifts from family and friends. I hope this Christmas you will not forget to give and/or be a “good gift” to those around you. What a privilege it is to become the hands and feet of our loving Father to someone in need.

Even the pain God allows us to experience can prove to be a precious gift, growing us into His image.
How has God gifted you? How can you make an eternal difference in someone’s life? This year, I pray you will bless others with the blessings you have received.
Have a holy Christmas and as always, happy reading.

A Safe Place for Christmas
Can giving this baby a holiday refuge help heal his reluctant heart?
Taking in a mother and child is the last thing Luke Morgan expects this Christmas as he struggles to keep his tree farm afloat. But when Shayla Coggins and her baby boy are stranded during a snowstorm, he can’t turn them away. Even as Shayla’s little boy draws them together, her dangerous secret comes home…and makes falling in love riskier than ever. You can find A Safe Place for Christmas here.

“Sometimes the unexpected gifts are the best ones.” We don’t always realize it right away though. If we’re patient, though, we’ll see God’s giving nature through every circumstance.
Well said, Annie!
