Does God care about the desires of your heart? Yes He does. Psalm 37:4 (NASB) says:
Delight yourself in the Lord;
And He will give you the desires of your heart.”
God knit each one of us together in our mother’s womb. He alone knows what truly satisfies us. As we delight in the Lord and practice His presence, He shapes our desires so that we want better things than what our flesh desires (Gal. 5:16).
Today, instead of a blog, I’m sharing a Youtube interview with Linda Evans Shepherd on how God answered my prayer for a husband 45 years ago! We talk about the difference between the deceitful desires of the flesh and the live-giving desires of the Spirit. If the video doesn’t show in your email, click to be brought to the website page.

Awww… I so enjoyed this, and appreciated the confirmation that God does indeed hear our prayers. I can remember as a young man asking God for a wife. I had forgotten that prayer years earlier, God never did. It took more than 25 years, but God brought Diane into my life. As He did, he reminded me of that prayer and assured me I had not been forgotten.
I love that. God never forgot. Thanks, J.D.
God does bring us what we need in his time instead of ours sometimes, doesn’t he? Visiting from #tellhisstory!
Yes, Kristen. And His answers are worth the wait.
Debbie, what a fun interview! I’ve gotta say, Estes Park is a beautiful place to minister! I loved hearing your story and your wisdom. Psalm 37:4 was a verse God spoke to me a lot about when I was single and praying for God’s best regarding marriage. Congratulations on 45 years together!
Jeanne, Estes Park is beautiful. I’m glad you enjoyed the story. I had so much fun recalling how God brought my husband and me together.
What a wonderful story of how our faithfulness to follow God’s will even when it doesn’t seem to be what we want can bring us much greater joy! I purchased your “Give Yourself a Break” book this past weekend at the One Woman Conference and am loving it so far! Have a Blessed Day!!
Thank you, Paige. I wrote that book for me :-). May the Lord meet you in its pages.
Debbie, this was such a fun video and I loved hearing your story! Congratulations of 45 years of marriage!
Thank you, Joanne. God is good!
Love your story! We need to invite God into all areas of our life.
Yes we do. Thanks, Candyce.
I loved your story! My husband and I will be married 40 years in July and our story is similar. Very fast and unexpected but obviously God’s choice!!
God seems to bust our ideas of how things should work! Thanks, Ann. Congratulations on 40 years.
Thank you for your story. I am reminded to pray and share this with my friend who still waits.
Amy, when I was waiting I had the thought, I’d rather be married a short time to someone I really enjoy than a long time to someone I didn’t. Sounds obvious. But sometimes we fall in love with the idea of marriage.
Enjoyed your message and your interview, Debbie. God blessed you and your husband. Wishing you many more years together in service to our Father.
Thank you, Katherine. I am blessed!
Thanks Debbie! I so enjoyed hearing your story. Grateful God brought you together.
Thank you, Sylvia. Amazing to see His work.
Oh thank God He knows the deepest desires of our hearts. That gives us such hope. He knows us better than anyone and loves us so …
Yes! Praise His name!
I learned through the years that God really cares about our deepest desires. We are so blessed to have such a wonderful Savior. Thanks for sharing this great message
Yes He does! Thank you, Yvonne.
Thanks for the reminder that every no is because God has a better yes.
Joanna, you remind me of the song, “Thank God for unanswered prayer.”
Loved your sharing Debbie. Congratulations on your 45th anniversary!! We are celebrating our 66th! Thanks to His coming into our lives, restoring our relationship and being Lord of our lives.
Thank you, Meade. And congratulations to you and Bob! What a difference it makes when our marriages are a three-thread cord.
Thanks, Debbie, for sharing your wonderful story and for pointing us to God for every decision.
