We heard a lot about change in the last election. We are in the midst of changing seasons. And we’ve been making changes at Lighthouse too.
Last week when we experienced our first cold snap I started packing away summer clothes and pulling out wool sweaters. I love the change of seasons. I know fall triggers gloom for some, but thankfully, not for me. I am invigorated by the cool air, colored leaves and blue skies. Even the rain didn’t dampen my spirits, but signaled a call for a big pot of chili. Like the squirrels, I enjoy gathering acorns on my walks, but use them in my decorating. Some of you may find it hard to believe, but I find having one season all year long, BORING, even a perennially pleasant season like sunny Southern California or mild Savannah, Georgia.
Besides changes in weather and government, our culture has made changes in the way we communicate. The world is going paperless and the new green is not a color but a lifestyle. At Lighthouse we are changing with the times. We have updated our website. A special thanks goes to Mir Haynes for her labor of love and to Steve Browne for sharing his beautiful photographs! Check out our resource page to see the books and websites we frequently recommend or have found beneficial. You can ask questions and read previous newsletters at Debbie’s Blog.
We are also offering our newsletter by email. Email me with your email address at LighthouseMinistries@mac.com to begin receiving your newsletter by email. We’ve made donating more convenient by setting up online pay pal.
We have changed bookkeepers. Our daughter Ginny will be handling our bookkeeping. In an effort to respond in a more timely fashion, she is setting up a system where she can email your receipts. If you have questions or want to receive receipts by email, you can email her at LighthouseMinistries@nc.rr.com.
We hope these changes will keep us better connected with each other and make us more efficient and frugal. One thing that hasn’t changed is our commitment to serve the community with Christ centered wisdom and care. Christ remains the same, yesterday, today and forever and His principles never change. But as systems improve we want to continue to change. A simplified life and staying more connected are changes we believe in.
Blessings,
Debbie
