The issues surrounding the coronavirus—how long this quarantine will last, how the stock market will impact us, and how to pay bills when we can’t work—not to mention what we’ll do if the toilet paper runs out—pose a real threat. In addition to this, the normal cares of life don’t stop with a worldwide pandemic. Added stress strains relationships that are already experiencing more “together” or “social distancing” time than normal. Yet the Bible says not to fear any of those things (Matt. 6:25-34). We brought home a new puppy to fill the gaping hole our departed standard poodle’s untimely death left in our hearts. Strider, as we call him, immediately lifted our spirits. He was the joy boy we needed. His tail wagged during play, and he made every effort to please.
He was wonderful—except for a small limp. At his puppy appointment I pointed it out to our vet. “Try to keep him quiet a few days. It should heal. Call me if it doesn’t.”
For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline” (2 Tim. 1:7 NLT).

My daughter, who works in airline reservations, had her shift hours doubled to handle flight cancelations. It doesn’t take a genius to do the math on that one. Pay your employees overtime to cancel your source of revenue! The threat of this virus has shaken our economy and our sense of well-being.
