How Remarkable

God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Genesis 1:27

Have you taken time lately to consider how remarkable you are? The mere fact that you are human carries with it the promise of greatness.

Although Adam and Eve’s fall into sin severely marred the human race, people are still remarkable. We are created in the image of God and given two unique roles no other creatures share. These roles set us apart from the rest of creation. Humans alone are able to converse with God and to accomplish great things for God.

We were made to worship and connect with God. God gave humans a unique ability to connect with our Maker. Adam, not the animals, received the “breath of life” which made him able to share thoughts and emotions with God (Gen. 2:7). The ability to worship in “spirit and truth” is restored through the gift of the Holy Spirit who is given to every believer at the moment of salvation (Jn. 4:24, Romans 8:9). Adam and Eve met with God in the cool of the evening; Christians are the temple of God and have constant access to Him. How astounding, your very body is now a place of worship!

Animals were given instincts. God’s children are led by His Spirit (Romans 8:14). We were made to rely on God. When we aren’t looking to Him, then we become empty lost creatures who can act worse than animals. Animals don’t usually beat their spouses, drop bombs, or pollute the ocean, land and air.

Worship isn’t just something we do on Sundays, it is a moment by moment awe of God. It is living in harmony with God and giving Him the rightful role of Head in our daily decisions and actions.

God gave us the ability to work well – solve problems, create, even master and tame wild beasts. God gave the first couple the ability, responsibility, and the authority to rule over the creatures of the earth, and to tend His garden (Genesis 2:28). The fall brought the obstacles of weeds, bugs and conflict. These hindrances add the frustrated feeling of going three steps forward and two back but God knew that you were up for the challenge, because those challenges should draw us back to Him. Imagine if He’d turned the garden over to horses, dogs or cats. Only the remarkable human is able to turn weeds into a fruitful garden.

God gave humans remarkable qualities, but they were not given to make us independent of God. The oil gusher is one more reminder that we need God. God made us remarkable in our ability to work and solve problems, but we were made to act in conjunction and dependence on Him.

You are remarkable. You can solve problems, invent, nurture and love. But most remarkable of all, you can talk to God and He will listen and guide you. Now that’s amazing!

Blessings,
.

    Hi Debbie,

Thanks for the reminder! Worship of and fellowship with our Lord is truly a mysterious but essential part of my life. If I couldn’t worship (and no one can stop me), I just don’t think I could make it in this life. Along with you, I praise His Holy Name.

    Love ya!
    Ann
