“Again the one who looked like a man touched me and gave me strength. “Do not be afraid, man highly esteemed,” He said, “Peace! Be strong now; be strong” (Daniel 10:18-19a).
Have you ever received such bad news that you were literally flattened? Daniel had received a vision of the future that was so terrible he went into mourning for three weeks! An angel came to strengthen him and interpret the vision.
Many of Daniel’s prophetic dreams and visions are now history. Daniel himself was present when the great Babylon fell to Persia in one night. Other prophecies were fulfilled later through such conquerors as Alexander the Great. But the vision that flattened Daniel is yet to come.
Many have questioned the authenticity of the book of Daniel because of how accurately and clearly it foretold future details. But after the discovery of the ancient Qumran documents, its genuineness can no longer be reasonably disputed.
Many Bible scholars believe we are living in the last of the last days. When a woman is in labor, the contractions increase in frequency and intensity as the moment of birth draws near. The birth pangs are certainly getting closer together. Notice how frequently natural disasters have hit our world in recent days (Matt. 24:7-8).
Think how rapidly our world is changing making better sense of many of the confusing prophecies of the Bible. With worldwide terrorism fueled by religious extremest and nations and economies interlinked, it no longer seems impossible for the world to embrace one currency, one economy or one unifying ruler promising peace. “One world” is more than an airline slogan, it is a cry for peace.
Regardless of where we are on the prophetic calendar, the angel’s words are for us. Now is the time to be strong. Strong in our faith, in our love, in our courage, in our readiness to meet our Lord.
We may not know the day or the hour, but after listing many end time signs, Jesus said, “when you see all these things, recognize that He is near, right at the door” (Matt. 24:33). Is your life in a place that you are ready for Jesus to come as a thief in the night?
For those whose names are written in the book of life, we can look up, for our redemption really is drawing closer. But we must also be strong, for we don’t know what will yet be required of us. There is an urgency to make ready for His return.
Are you ready? What needs to be done for you to be ready to welcome our Lord? What are you doing to strengthen yourself NOW?

What an awesome and timely encouragement! How I pray with you that
we will prepare for the banquet – clothed in the white garments of
His righteousness – with lamps filled with the oil of His Spirit.
[Matt.22/ Matt.25] I pray also that we will recognize every work
God has prepared for us [Eph.2:10] ,so that others will
be equipped for eternity through the gifts of God through His Son,
Jesus Christ! Joy to you! Kay
